A widely known theory suggests the physiological differences between men and women’s brains are responsible for the unique ways in which the two sexes think. For example, the male brain is said to be capable of compartmentalizing information, while the female brain is not. Chattanooga attorney Theresa Light Critchfield is either the exception to the rule or the woman who could cause psychologists to toss the whole idea out the window.

Assuming that all caterers prepare from scratch the hors d’oeuvres and the special event foods you pay top dollar for might leave you unpleasantly surprised. Although it makes sense that caterers would make their own food, Michelle Wells, of the catering business Events with Taste says this is becoming a rarity in the business.

Annual Thanksgiving dinner only increases by 56 cents over last year
It’s that time once again to get those pants out of the closet that expand an extra inch on each side on the old tummy and prepare for another Thanksgiving feast.
It has been reported that the average Tennessean may consume as much as 3,000 calories at one sitting before the sun sets Thanksgiving evening and will ask the same question each year, “Why did I do that?” The good news is that the cost of the dinner may have gone up by about 56 cents, but it is still very affordable.

Thanksgiving is a time in my memory that takes me back to the days of splendidly set tables, endless rows of holiday delights and friends and family gathered with their heads bowed thanking God for his blessings upon our homes.
I can still smell the turkey turning a golden brown, the sage that flavored the cornbread dressing baked from scratch, or the tempting urge to run my fingers through the icing of that double layered coconut cake.

When pictures lie
When I was about twelve, I watched a short film clip that ran before a feature movie. It was actual newsreel footage of a man shooting another man in the head. Both men, I would later learn, were Vietnamese.
American photojournalist and former marine Eddie Adams was there when it happened, and he pressed the button on his camera at just the right moment – the moment of death, with the result going on to become one of the most unforgettable war images of all time.

It should go without saying that money is a significant concept in the world. Always has been, always will be, I would think.
The word money comes to us from the Latin word “moneta,” via the Anglo-French derivative thereof, “moneie,” and, ultimately from a 14th century English descendant thereof, “moneye.”

While I am looking forward to the holiday season, the cold temperatures that accompany it are not my favorite. One good thing about cold weather, I can think of right off-hand, is getting to enjoy the delicious hot drinks that this season brings like hot chocolate and peppermint mochas. This week, I found the perfect place to get a tasty hot drink, and an atmosphere that makes cold weather much more bearable.

Collegedale Dog Park adds options, completion relies on community
Imagine not only organizing an event for all your friends, but their dogs, too, and establishing the place itself where the dogs can run freely while owners enjoy their pet and the company of pet-lovers.
This was the task that LaDonna Kolling undertook, and on Sept. 8, 2010 the Collegedale Board of Commissioners approved the park, the rules sign was posted and the Collegedale Dog Park was officially opened.
Tis the season to be giving
Tim Knapp, chair of the Community Outreach Committee at the Greater Chattanooga Association of Realtors, and Marie Brackett, GCAR staff member, unload a pickup truck packed with non-perishable food at St. Elmo Baptist Church on Nov. 15. The Outreach Committee raised more than $1,000 to purchase the groceries, which it donated to Widows Harvest Ministries, a locally based non-profit organization that provides assistance to widows.

Due to recent government incentives, short sales are becoming the darling of the distressed-property marketplace. A short sale keeps owners out of foreclosure, because the lenders allow the homeowners to sell their house for less than they owe.
Banks have really sped up the process, hiring large numbers to serve the short sale specialty. In early 2010, one of the very largest banks had more than doubled the number of short sales it approved, sometimes as quickly as 24 days.
