Evatt focused on ending human trafficking

Second Life Chattanooga, a nonprofit organization that focuses on ending human trafficking in greater Chattanooga and Southeast Tennessee, has welcomed attorney Paige Evatt onto its board of directors.

“Paige is passionate about raising awareness of human trafficking in our community, but more importantly, she’s passionate about helping survivors,” says Jerry Redman, chief executive officer for Second Life Chattanooga. “Our board of directors provides leadership and guidance, and they’re our hands and feet in the community. We cannot thank them enough for the work they accomplish day in and day out to end human trafficking. We believe Paige will allow us to continue our outreach efforts and make an impact in our region and beyond.”

Evatt is the pro bono project director for Legal Aid of East Tennessee’s Chattanooga office and has been affiliated with Second Life for nearly four years. Evatt previously served as a staff attorney working under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), a grant assisting victims of domestic violence and sexual assault with their civil legal needs.

“I have seen the impact Second Life makes by providing client services, educating the community and collaborating with other local agencies,” says Evatt. “During my time on the board, I want to increase community outreach, expand to more rural areas surrounding Chattanooga and see survivor services strengthened.

“I’m thrilled to be part of making our community a safer place for everyone and to provide hope and healing to survivors.”

Evatt is an active member of the Chattanooga Coalition against Human Trafficking, the Tennessee Bar Association, the Chattanooga Bar Association and the Bradley County Bar Association. She was a past president of the Chattanooga Chapter of the Alpha Delta Pi Alumnae Association and was awarded the Girls, Inc. Unbought and Unbossed Award in 2017.
