Lynda Minks Hood, executive director of the Chattanooga Bar Association, was recently appointed to serve on the E.A.C.H. Council (board of directors) of Erlanger Health System Foundations.
Hood holds several professional memberships including Rotary Club of Chattanooga, the National Association of Bar Executives, the National Association of Female Executives, the Association for Fundraising Professionals, the Public Relations Society of America, the Association of Continuing Legal Education and the American Bar Association, among others.
Christie Kizer Burbank, chair of the Erlanger Health System Foundations board and E.A.C.H. Council, said, “We could not be more excited to have Lynda join our team, as she has proven time and again in this community to be just the compassionate leader we need as a council member – someone who will support our safety net hospital and our campaign to build a new children’s hospital. These are exciting times, and we are fortunate to be the beneficiary of Lynda’s passion for service as a volunteer for our council.”
Hood is an advocate for a number of causes throughout the Chattanooga area. She served as chair of the American Cancer Society’s Gala of Hope for 2015 and 2016 and currently serves as chair-elect for the American Cancer Society Board. She is also second vice president of the board for Rotary of Chattanooga and is a board member of the Women’s Fund of Chattanooga.
Hood was selected to serve on the 2012-2013 search committee for a UTC athletic director and served on a sub-committee for the search for a UTC chancellor in 2012. She also served as the 2011-2012 chair of the Chancellor’s Roundtable for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, of which she is a lifetime member. She also serves on the UTC Athletic Board of Directors.
After being selected as one of ten 2011 Women of Distinction in Chattanooga, she served as chair of the 2013 and 2014 Women of Distinction events.
In 2010, Hood was nominated for Leadership Chattanooga’s first annual Lifetime Achievement Award. She was also chosen to be one of six “celebrity” dancers for the 2010 Dancing with the Stars Chattanooga, which benefits Partnership for Families, Children and Adults. She won the title of Fan Favorite, having raised over $8,000.
The many clubs and organizations with which Hood has been affiliated with through the years include: Kiwanis Club of Chattanooga; The Diplomat Corps of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce; Junior League of Chattanooga; Partnership For Families, Adults and Children; Inner-City Ministries; FACES; Ballet Tennessee; Sentenga Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society; Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure; Ronald McDonald House and more.
Hood is married to Michael Hood, with whom she has a daughter, Lauren, a junior at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. They live in Chattanooga and attend Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church.
