Women’s Fund announces keynote speaker of Voices 2016

Cindy Dyer

The Women’s Fund of Greater Chattanooga (WFGC) will host Cindy Dyer, a former specialized domestic and sexual violence prosecutor internationally recognized for her work on gender-based violence, as the keynote speaker at the Voices 2016 luncheon, to be held Wednesday, Oct. 5 from 11:30 -1 p.m. at Stratton Hall.

Dyer has served as the director of the United States Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women, a position to which President George W. Bush appointed her. In her current role as vice president of the human rights team at nonprofit organization Vital Voices, Dyer travels around the world implementing programs to address violence against women.

“At our Voices Luncheon, Dyer will reinforce the Women’s Fund goal of advocating against the root causes of violence against women,” says Ann Coulter, WFGC board co-chair. “We are proud of the impact we’ve had as an organization fighting against human trafficking in Tennessee, and we’ve expanded our impact to combat violence against women and other core issues.”

Kelly Fitzgerald, board member of WFGC and co-chair of the event, said, “We are looking forward to introducing Cindy to the Chattanooga community at our annual Voices luncheon this year. She is internationally recognized for her work in identifying solutions to gender-based violence, and has worked tirelessly to advance communities by making women safe and secure.”

Proceeds from the event will support the advocacy and philanthropy of the WFGC, the Nightingale Network for giving and grant-making, and partnerships with aligned organizations supporting the safety and empowerment of women and girls.
