Sargent Shriver, director of the Office of Economic Opportunity, spoke to a packed and enthusiastic house at the Tivoli Theatre saying the poverty program was accomplishing many intangibles other than providing jobs.
Bishop Joseph A. Durick of Nashville, Friday, along with Roman Catholic dignitaries throughout the state and local clergy gathered for the blessing and dedication of the new Notre Dame High School in Glenwood.

Osborne Enterprises will build a four-story and penthouse office building at Eastgate Center, which will be one of the most luxurious in the Chattanooga area, W.F. Osborne, chairman of the board, announced Saturday. The facility will represent an investment of more than $1 million.
Monday, Feb. 14
Samuel L. Haber, assistant vice-chairman of the Joint Distribution Committee of the United Jewish Appeal, will address a dinner meeting of the Chattanooga Jewish Welfare Federation 1966 special gifts division Thursday night. The goal has been set for $75,044 for the 1966 campaign. Dr. Tepper and Mervin Pregulman are co-chairmen of the Special Gifts Division.
Tuesday, Feb. 15
Chattanooga patrolman J.R. Farmer was named “Police Officer of the Year” by the Chattanooga Exchange Club Tuesday in a surprise ceremony at the weekly meeting of the blub at the Read House. Patrolman Farmer, who was selected by the Committee of the Law Enforcement Commission of Hamilton County and Chattanooga, received the Exchange Club award, a plaque, and $100.
Robert W. Hill, Jr., has resigned his federal court post as law clerk for U.S. District Judge Frank W. Wilson to join attorney Charles L. Claunch in the private practice of law. Mr. Hill, a 1958 Baylor alumnus, received his law degree from the University of Tennessee where he graduated No. 1 in his class in 1964.
Wednesday, Feb. 16
The Chattanooga Public Library board appointed Mrs. Katherine Arnold acting librarian Tuesday, effective March 1, after accepting the resignation of Miss Elizabeth Edwards, chief librarian for more than 20 years. Miss Edwards has accepted a post as director of the Rolling Prairie Library in Decatur, Ill.
Thursday, Feb. 17
Reopening the temporary off-ramp on the freeway in Brainerd between Spring Creek and McBrien Roads seemed assured Wednesday. Senators Bass and Gore are making every effort to help get the ramp reopened while a traffic study is being made.
Friday, Feb. 18
County Judge Frost was authorized Wednesday by the County Council to enter into a contract with Chattanooga under which the city will provide police and fire protection for the Lockheed Georgia Co. plant recently purchased from Gordon Street, Inc., on Signal Mountain Road.
