On Friday, Jan. 29, Miller & Martin hosted a luncheon presentation sharing the little-known history of Tennessee’s significant role as the final state needed to ratify the 19th Amendment, securing the rights of all U.S. women to vote.

Paula Casey (pictured) and Pat Pierce, renowned speakers on this subject, weaved the history of the passage of the Women’s Right to Vote amendment in Tennessee, and shared the pivotal role played by Chattanoogan Abigail Crawford Milton.

The Southeast Tennessee Lawyers Association for Women (SETLAW) and other guests were treated to an intriguing historical account of how the Volunteer state became known as “The Perfect 36,” and the continued impact this vote has on women today.
