One year after beginning the process to transform a 1920s-era building into uniquely designed apartment homes, the vision is close to becoming a reality. Finishing touches are being added to The Clemons as residents prepare to move in after the New Year.

The building, once headquarters of the Clemons Brothers Furniture Company, will include several new modern features while keeping the building’s original industrial feel with exposed brick and columns. The units will feature high ceilings, original and large windows in the living room, quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances and Nest Learning Thermostats. Each floor will have its own accent color, which will be highlighted by photography of some of the Scenic City’s most beautiful spots.

Perhaps the most unique aspect to the building is its portrayal of the city of Chattanooga throughout the decades. The main lobby will feature a 30-foot mural of Chattanooga landmarks, city streets and skylines as they appeared in the 1920s. The ground floor will also be accented with rustic chandeliers made of reclaimed lumber by Industrial Lightworks.

The ground floor of The Clemons building will feature a Street Corner Market and the new Epic Optical optometry offices and eyeglasses boutique. There are 2,000 square feet of retail space still available to be leased.

In addition to a rooftop dog park with views of Signal and Lookout Mountains, residents will also have 24-hour access to the market, indoor secured bike storage, a media room with a 65-inch LED television, a private fitness center, Nest digital thermostats, valet trash removal service and other luxury amenities.

The Clemons is scheduled to open in February.
