American Lung Association accepting 2016 Women of Distinction nominations

The American Lung Association in Tennessee is asking the Chattanooga community to nominate outstanding women in the area for a 2016 Women of Distinction award.

The 31th Annual Women of Distinction Awards Luncheon will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 from 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Chattanooga Convention Center Ballroom. The event, which benefits the American Lung Association of Tennessee, honors one Tennessee Woman of Distinction and ten of the Chattanooga area’s most accomplished women, who have distinguished themselves within their family, career, and community.

Nomination forms are available at the Chattanooga office, or may be downloaded at www.alatn.org. Nominations are due by Oct. 16, 2015. The need to be faxed to (423) 629-0054, mailed to the ALA Chattanooga office (1466 Riverside Dr., Chattanooga, TN 37406), or emailed to Shirley.Cudabac@lung.org.

This annual event benefits the American Lung Association in Tennessee and its mission to prevent lung disease and promote lung health. Lung disease is the third leading cause of death in the United States. Lung cancer is the number one cancer killer of women in the U.S., surpassing breast cancer in 1987. In Tennessee, more than 814,000 children and adults are affected by lung diseases such asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and lung cancer.

Individual and table reservations for the event will be available soon, as will various sponsorship levels.

Proceeds from the Women of Distinction Awards Luncheon help fund medical research, advocacy and education here and nationwide.
