Filmmaker Amy Oppenheimer to speak

The Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanooga will host a luncheon featuring filmmaker Amy Oppenheimer on Tuesday, May 19 at noon at the Jewish Cultural Center, located at 5461 North Terrace Road. Oppenheimer is the director of “Faces of Israel” and an expert speaker on religion and state issues in Israel. RSVP by calling 493-0270 or rsvp@jewishchattanooga.com.

Buying local on a budget

Crabtree Farms will host a class about buying local goods on a budget Friday, May 22 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The class will cover how to incorporate local food into your diet without breaking the bank. Call 423-493-9155, extension 10, or email achill@crabtreefarms.org to sign-up.

The Faith of Flannery O’Connor

The Southern Lit Alliance is teaming up with Theology on Tap to discuss the prayer journal of acclaimed Southern writer Flannery O’Connor. Three panelists (John Grammer, professor of English at the University of the South; Robert MacSwain, assistant professor of Theology and Christian Ethics at the University of the South; and author Jamie Quatro) will discuss how O’Connor’s Roman Catholic faith comforted her when people rejected her writing and how it impacted her literary style. “A Conversation on the Faith of Flannery O’Connor” will take place Tuesday, May 26 from 7 to 9 p.m. at The Camp House, located at 149 E.
