Official announcement was made today that the quarantine has been lifted at Dalton, Ga., Marion County, and Dade County. The small pox scare restricted visitors from these places coming to Chattanooga or Chattanoogans visiting there.
Sunday, Feb. 14
Plans are being drawn by Architect C.E. Bearden for a girls dormitory to be erected at Bonny Oaks at the cost of $10,000. It will include an apartment for the Matron, laundry, a gymnasium, and classrooms. The building will accommodate 40 girls.
The first of a series of public recitals by the advanced pupils of Prof. August Schmidt will be given at the Patten Hotel by Miss Ocy Schoff, contralto. Assisting on the program will be Mrs. Albert Hastings, a popular young violinist.
Monday, Feb. 15
Mrs. John Jeffords will give an informal luncheon in honor of Mrs. Carl Douglass, the former Miss Elizabeth Lee of Lookout Mountain.
Plans are being made to build the Governor’s Mansion by popular subscriptions. Attorney Jesse W. Sparks thinks there are more than 100,000 Tennesseans who would give $1.00 apiece to build the mansion. The idea will be brought before the next meeting of the Legislature. Mr. Sparks has already sent in his dollar.
Dr. H. L. Fancher is in Somerset, Ky.
Miss Susie McNulty entertained the Alert Bible Class of the First Baptist Church at her home on East Fourth Street Friday night.
Tuesday, Feb. 16
News has been received of the death of Florence, the 15-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Crumbliss, who died at their home in Knoxville unexpectedly. She was the niece of Henry, Roy. and Raleigh Crumbliss of Chattanooga.
“The Dansant – International” was played before a record-breaking crowd at the Bijoy Theatre. Mrs. Z.C. Patten, Jr., was a radiant queen and Mr. Ross Faxon a handsome king. Following the spectacular carnival, a supper dance was held at Hotel Patten. The affair was given to aid the Old Ladies Home. Mrs. W.E. Love, president of the home, was delighted with the financial success of the benefit performance.
Mrs. Charles. M. Willingham and children have returned from Florida.
Wednesday, Feb. 17
The wedding of Miss Flora Loveman and Mr. Lucius Mansfield was solemnized at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. D.B. Loveman, on East Fifth Street. Dr. J.W. Bachman performed the ceremony.
The Business Men’s Club will have its first open house reception at the Central YMCA. Ladies are invited. The Third Regiment Band will give a concert in the lobby. The hours are from 8 to 11 p.m.
Roy Jackson has gone to Atlanta, where he will represent the Volunteer State Life Insurance Co.
Thursday, Feb. 18
Dr. and Mrs. Willard Steele will begin work on their new home on South Crest Road, Missionary Ridge right away.
Misses Kate Rice, Avie Banks and Lillian Johnson have returned from a trip to New York.
Friday, Feb. 19
Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Doughton are staying at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bryan while Mrs. Bryan is visiting in New York and Baltimore.
Mrs. T.H. Wagner and little daughter will go to Orlando, Fla., next week for a stay.
