The Greater Chattanooga Association of Realtors kicked off the busy spring home buying season with the first annual Greater Chattanooga Area Open House Weekend.

Held during what is already the most active real estate season, the event drove what the Association expected to be the largest open house weekend of the year. Realtors hosted nearly 300 open houses during May 17 and 18 across the Chattanooga and Northwest Georgia areas.

“Open House Weekend offered a fantastic opportunity for both buyers and sellers to make the most of the spring real estate market,” said Vicki Trapp, president of the Association. “Our Realtors were out in full force sharing some of the most sought-after homes in the area.”

Approximately 45 percent of all homebuyers use open houses as a resource for finding their next home, according to a 2014 study by the National Association or Realtors. Additionally, 90 percent of those who attend open houses find them useful in the home buying process.

By facilitating interactions between buyers, sellers and Realtors, we can help to push the Greater Chattanooga area home market into the right direction,” Trapp said. “Borrowing costs are extremely affordable right now, making this spring season a prime occasion for buyers to find their new home.”

GCAR also partnered with Association member Good Guys Moving to give away a free move (up to $500) from the Chattanooga moving company.
