Chattanooga Airport celebrates completion of the terminal renovation

The Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport Authority, along with several hundred elected officials, civic leaders, airport tenants, and guests celebrated the completion of the $7.2 million renovation project of the airport terminal.

The renovation included substantial improvements to its main terminal building and further design enhancements to the building’s environmental sustainability.

 “We are excited to celebrate the completion of the most significant renovation to our passenger terminal in more than 20 years,” said Dan Jacobson, chairman of the airport’s board of commissioners. “The renovated space is a combination of amenities and upgrades that will enhance our passengers’ flying experience and continue to position the airport in a key role as an economic development driver for this region.”

The renovation project features new flooring, wall tile, painting and signage, updated public seating throughout the terminal, upgrading of the terminal restrooms, and a new escalator system in the rotunda. Airport passengers will have the option of visiting the two new full-service restaurant facilities, located in both the pre and post security areas, as well as ordering from a new and comprehensive food and drink menu.

The new facilities also include several large screen televisions, comfortable seating, numerous electric outlets, and work areas for travelers needing to stay connected while they wait for their flights. 

“The terminal renovation has been in design and development since 2011, and the project was completed on time and within budget,” said Terry Hart, president and CEO of the airport authority. “Throughout the process, our team of Derthick, Henley & Wilkerson architects, EMJ contractors, subcontractors, and airport management has listened to our passengers to ensure the renovation would be a greater asset to further improve a comfortable and convenient traveling experience.”
