A delicious local dinner will be offered starting at 5:30 p.m. Cornbread from 212 Market Restaurant, chili, burgers with local meat from Link 41, barbeque sandwiches on Niedlov’s buns, mashed sweet potatoes, collards and coleslaw with Crabtree Farms’ veggies will please vegetarians and meat-eaters alike.

Proceeds from the festival will be used to create a kid-friendly outdoor recreational learning space and support Crabtree Farms’ educational programs, which include Farm-To-School efforts, gardening education, and community outreach. Party like an ‘80s rock star

Saturday, November 2

Chattanooga-area residents will soon have a chance to party like a rock star as they fight to stop lung disease. On Saturday, November 2, party-goers will enjoy an evening of food, auction items, and rocking 80’s-style entertainment with Rubik’s Groove. Dress is casual, but guests are encouraged to come dressed as an ‘80s rock star to ramp up the fun. The Quest for a Cure Research Dinner will benefit the American Lung Association in Tennessee’s lung disease research and educational programs. It all happens in the ballroom at the Chattanoogan Hotel, located at 1201 S. Broad Street. The festivities will kick off with cocktails at a silent auction at 6:30 p.m. A gourmet dinner will follow. Rounding out the evening will be a Rock Star acknowledgement program, a live auction, and the Rubik’s Groove Band. Awards will be presented for best costumes. Kitchen at Union Square Wag and Wine

Culinard, the culinary institute of Virginia College School of Business and Health in Chattanooga, has announced the opening of Kitchen at Union Square, located at 2 Union Square, 200 West Martin Luther King Boulevard. The restaurant will open for dining Monday, November 4, and will host a grand opening celebration, Wag and Wine, benefiting the Humane Educational Society of Chattanooga, on Thursday, November 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person and will include an assortment of the chef’s selected tasting portions, assorted artisanal cheeses, and two glasses of wine.

Foster care and adoption fair

Saturday, November 9

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 9 at New City Fellowship Church, located at 2424 East Third Street, the Tennessee Valley Office of the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services and other local agencies will host the Tennessee Valley Foster Care and Adoption Fair. The purpose of the fair is to inform the community of the need for families to provide permanent homes to waiting children. There will be pictures and videos of children in need of adoptive families along with information about each child. Local agencies will be available to answer questions and provide additional information. Also, workshops that focus on issues of importance to adoptive and foster families will be presented. Current resource parents will receive five in-service training hours for event attendance. Chattanooga Theater Center 2013-2014 schedule

The Chattanooga Theatre Centre will mark the group’s 90th anniversary with a 2013-2014 season of favorites selected from the community theatre’s unbroken 90-year string of productions. Noel Coward’s Blithe Spirit, a haunting comedy, will play through Nov. 3 in the Mildred M. Montague Circle Theatre; A Christmas Story: The Musical is slated for Dec. 6-22 in the Main Theatre; and Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple will be Jan. 24-Feb. 16, 2014 on the Circle Stage. Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew will play Feb. 28-March 16, 2014 in the Mildred M. Montague Circle Theatre; And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie will run March 21-April 6, 2014 in the Main Theatre; Pump Boys and Dinettes, a musical with Chattanooga roots, will play April 11-May 4, 2014 in the Mildred M. Montague Circle Theatre; Harper Lee’s drama To Kill A Mockingbird will play May 16-June 1 in the Main Theatre; Pippin will play June 6-July 5, 2014 in the Mildred M. Montague Circle Theatre; and Les Miserables, inspired by Victor Hugo’s novel, will run July 11-27, 2014 in the Main Theatre.
