Leitner, Williams law firm noted for some of the Best Lawyers in America




Eight attorneys at the law firm of Leitner, Williams, Dooley & Napolitan have been selected by their peers for inclusion in “Best Lawyers in America 2014.” Chattanooga office attorneys Paul R. Leitner, Thomas A. Williams, Gary S. Napolitan, William E. Godbold, III, and Nashville office attorney James P. Catalano were selected in the category of Personal Injury Litigation - Defendants. William E. Godbold, III was also included in the category of Medical Malpractice Law - Defendants. Chattanooga attorney John B. Curtis, Jr. was selected in the category of Medical Malpractice Law, Memphis attorney Thomas P. Cassidy, Jr., was selected in the Insurance Law category, and Chattanooga attorney David W. Noblit was selected in the category of Mediation.

In addition, attorney Thomas A. Williams was named “Lawyer of the Year” in Chattanooga for Personal Injury Litigation – Defendants for 2014, and attorney Thomas P. Cassidy was named “Lawyer of the Year” in Memphis for Insurance Law for 2014. Only a single lawyer in each practice area and designated metropolitan area is honored as the “Lawyer of the Year.”

Leitner is the senior member of the firm whose practice includes claims in product liability, business and commercial disputes, contract construction liability, tort liability, and defense for several of the major airlines. Williams’ litigation experience includes claims in product liability, business and commercial disputes, construction liability, tort liability, fire loss and the management of risk associated with litigation. Napolitan specializes in catastrophic claims involving the trucking industry, products liability, premises owners and workers’ compensation defense. Godbold has experience in litigating product liability cases of all types including significant complex matters involving construction equipment, electrical transformers, chemical products and aircraft.  In addition, he defends health care claims against physicians, nurses, and pharmacists. Nashville attorney James P. Catalano spends the majority of his time defending and counseling both individual and business clients in the areas of transportation litigation, construction law, food and beverage liability, product liability, professional malpractice defense, healthcare and premises liability.

Mr. Curtis is heavily involved in the defense of medical malpractice claims, including claims against physicians, nurses, and long-term care and assisted living facilities. Mr. Cassidy practices in the areas of general civil defense, employment, insurance law and professional liability.  He represents individuals, corporations, employers and insurance companies in complex insurance coverage matters in both pre-litigation and through trial.

After successful participation in mediation in a case in 1985, Noblit actively served as a mediation advocate in well over 100 cases. In 2000, after adding a mediation practice to his areas of concentration, he became listed by the Supreme Court of Tennessee as a Rule 31 Mediator. He has conducted well over 500 mediations in a wide variety of legal disputes.
