Tupelo Honey announces opening date

Asheville-based Tupelo Honey Cafe has set a Monday, September 16 opening date for its Chattanooga restaurant. Workers completed painting and other finishing touches at the restaurant last week, and the equipment and décor placements are set to take place by the end of the month.

The 5,500 square-foot restaurant will be located at the motor court entrance of Building North and will offer indoor and patio seating for up to 150 guests.

During the first two weeks of operation, the restaurant’s weekday schedule will include dinner service only from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m.; the weekend schedule will include breakfast, lunch and dinner service. Beginning Saturday, September 28, regular restaurant hours will be 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. on Fridays for lunch and dinner service, and Saturday 8 a.m. until 11 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. through 9 p.m. for breakfast, lunch and dinner service.

Since opening in downtown Asheville, N.C. in 2000, Tupelo Honey Cafe’s casual, colorful and whimsical atmosphere and farm-to-fork New South cuisine have grown in popularity, spurring additional locations and a nationally distributed Tupelo Honey Cafe cookbook. A second cookbook is due in the spring of 2014. Owner Steve Frabitore opened a second Asheville location in 2010 and the first out-of-market restaurants in Knoxville, Tenn., in late 2012 and in Greenville, S.C., earlier this year. The company will open a Charlotte, N.C., location in December 2013 and a Johnson City, Tenn., location in 2014. For more information, visit www.tupelohoneycafe.com.
