The Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce has named Howard Levine, an attorney for Miller & Martin, its 2013-2014 board chair.
Levine made his first major address in his new role at the Chattanooga Chamber’s annual meeting on Wednesday, August 21. The event took place at the Chattanooga Convention Center.
“Howard’s civic contributions to the Chattanooga area span several decades and extend across our community,” said Ron Harr, president and CEO of the Chattanooga Chamber. “His dedication to this city and long record of service have equipped him with insightful perspectives on our area, as well as a strong network of connections with local decision-makers.”
Levine is a tenured member of the Chattanooga Chamber’s Board of Directors, having served on various committees and in at-large roles since 2003. His high level of engagement during that time and extensive familiarity with the organization’s role in the community add to Levine’s already-extensive qualifications for the position, said Harr.
Over the years, Levine has chaired and presided over a number of local boards, including Rotary Club of Chattanooga, Salvation Army Advisory Board, Travelers Aid Society, Team Evaluation Center, Yale Club of Chattanooga and Mizpah Congregation. He has also served on the board of trustees for McCallie School and Bright School, as well as on boards for numerous other local organizations. In addition, Levine was chairman and managing partner at Miller & Martin from 2002-2009, where he has been employed for over 50 years.
Levine succeeds Diana Bullock, EPB’s vice president of economic development and government relations, in leading the Chattanooga Chamber Board of Directors.
“Diana’s economic development experience has been a huge resource to the Chamber during her year as Board Chair,” said Harr. “We also benefited from her focus on diversity and inclusion as we launched the African American Business Development program.”
Along with Levine, 15 other board members have been elected to serve a one-year term on the Executive Committee.
Executive Committee officers for 2013-2014 include: Michael Mathis, Regions Bank (chair-elect); Diana Bullock, EPB (immediate past chair); Roy Vaughn, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (secretary); and Mike Sarvis, Cohutta Banking Company (treasurer).
