Coker Tire and Honest Charley to host cruise in April 6

Coker Tire created the Chattanooga Cruise In two years ago to encourage car and truck enthusiasts to gather in the Scenic City. On April 6 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Cruise In will be in full force, attracting hundreds of collector vehicles to the area. The event is a laid-back car show hosted by two local businesses: Coker Tire Company and Honest Charley Speed Shop. Corky Coker, owner of Coker Tire and an avid car collector, is enthusiastic about driving classic cars and encourages his customers to drive their cars regularly.

The Chattanooga Cruise In is held on the streets surrounding the Coker Tire headquarters, allowing cars, trucks, and motorcycles to come and go as they please. Coker Tire will also hold an open house, encouraging participants to tour the facilities and check out everything the company has to offer. The open house includes tours of Corky Coker’s museum and Honest Charley’s Garage, a classic car restoration shop. Along with several hundred classic vehicles, the Cruise In will feature live entertainment by The Other Guys, local food vendors, and door prizes, including a free set of tires.

Most of the streets surrounding Coker Tire will be blocked off to provide adequate space for Cruise In participants, and the entrance to the cruise in will be at the intersection of Main and Chestnut Streets. Coker Tire has invited several car clubs, as well as other local car-related businesses, to join in the festivities. The most recent Cruise In (September 2012) attracted 800 vehicles and more than 2,000 people.

The Cruise In is a rain-or-shine event.

Coker Tire’s headquarters is located at 1317 Chestnut Street in downtown Chattanooga. Send questions regarding the Cruise In to Tommy Lee Byrd by calling 423-648-8526 or emailing tommyleeb@coker.com.
