Saturday, December 17

A North Chattanoogan differs as to corporation lines, and many sharp opinions developed in Friday night’s mass meeting. The Golf and Country Club, Highlands, and Riverview are likely to be omitted from the town. These plans were modified by a Citizens Committee of North Chattanooga that sprang a surprise on the printed plan that had been issued.

Clark and Clifford Grayson will come home from Cornell for Christmas instead of stopping in Washington, D.C.

Miss Sallie Caperton, daughter of H. J. Caperton of Cowan, and Marion O. Hagan of Chattanooga were married December 12 by Rev. Flanagan in the Presbyterian Church.

Sunday, December 15

“The City of Sweet-Do-Nothing” is a book by Katherine Lynch, one of Chattanooga’s lovely young ladies, and has received good reviews.

Miss Mary Lee Smith will spend Christmas with her parents in Bowling Green, Ky.

Mrs. Frank Davies left last week for a visit in Jackson, Ohio before going to Pittsburgh, Pa., to join Mr. Davies, where they will make their home.

Monday, December 16

David R. Porter, who has spent three days in Chattanooga helping the Preparatory High School Conference, spoke at the Picto Theater Sunday telling young boys much could be achieved in the work of Christianity if they would simply give everyday efforts. Mr. Porter was here under the auspices of the YMCA working with C.A. Blakely. He leaves for Nashville for a conference with high schools there.

Miss Norinne Harrison of Clarksville, Tenn., will come to spend the Christmas holidays with Miss Virginia Hill.

Tuesday, December 17

Mrs. Thomas Scrutchins left Saturday for her home in Chicago after a visit with her sister, Miss Alice Stafford.

In a letter to Col. W.W. French of Missionary Ridge, who is a member of the Gettysburg National Committee, Gen. C. Irvine Walker, Commander of the United Confederate Veterans, asked that a date be set in June for the reunion. The Committee will act immediately in setting the date.

Wednesday, December 18

Miss Eleanor Few has returned to her home on McCallie Avenue after a visit with Mr. and Mrs. John A. Patten in St. Elmo.

Mrs. T.R. Wagner and daughters, Kathleen and Myriah, of Athens will come to be holiday guests of Mrs. Mary Brabson Littleton on McCallie Avenue.

William Latimore of Georgia Tech and Franklin Kline of the University of Virginia will return home Saturday for the holidays.

Three Central High School favorite athletes were honored with captaincies at the annual football banquet at the Read House: “Rusty” Cornelius, captain of basketball; “Sticks” Vander Cammen, southpaw twirler, captain of baseball; and Bruce McIsaac, honored for the second time as football captain. Coach Jimmy Rike and Principal Ziegler were acting toastmasters for the banquet.

Thursday, December 19

Miss Elizabeth Downing of South Pittsburg will arrive Saturday to spend the holidays with her cousin, Mary Bertha Allison in Riverview.

There will be a called meeting at the YMCA to organize a city basketball league. Four teams have already signed and Director Crosby says the 11th Cavalry team will make the fifth. University of Chattanooga under Coach Stauffer and South Chattanooga with Dawson Harris have good teams.

Friday, December 20

Miss Margaret Pritchard and Miss Mary Brown will leave today to spend Christmas with relatives in North Carolina.

Misses Nell Wright, Keiler Nolan, Margaret Caldwell and Thelma West will arrive tonight from Randolph Macon College for the holidays.

Mrs. W.S. Courtney entertained with an informal tea for Mrs. George Moody of Chicago at her home on Fourth Street. She was assisted by Mesdames Sterling Courtney, J.C. Massee, R.H. Hunt, Sykes, and Iler.
