Color the Curve coming

Color the Curve coordinators took advantage of beautiful weather early this month to do a photo shoot to promote Color the Curve, a “color race” taking place Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Greenway Farms in Hixson, Tenn. Participants that register before Monday, December 31 and use the code “BEFORE2013” receive a 20 percent discount on the registration fee.

CurvyGirlsTennessee, a local scoliosis support group led by Kaitlyn McAfee, has teamed up with Scenic City Multisport to bring the 5K race and one-mile fun run to the Chattanooga area.

Here’s how it’ll work: Participants will wear white to the race. As they run (or walk) along the course, they’ll encounter color stations. Volunteers known as the color crew will be waiting to bombard them with color. Each station will have a different color (which coordinators say will be safe to people and the environment). By the end of the course, the participants will have a tie-dye look and will have helped raise money for scoliosis research.

Scoliosis is the lateral bending and twisting of the spine that, when progressed, causes body deformities and compromises internal organs. It affects seven million people in the U.S., with diagnosis most commonly occurring in pre-adolescence. The disease shows progression ten times more frequently in girls than boys.
