Mid-South Super Lawyers names two more local attorneys

Chattanooga is home to two more Super Lawyers.

Marya Schalk of the law firm Summers & Wyatt has been named to the Mid-South Rising Stars list as one of the top up-and-coming attorneys in Tennessee for 2012. Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state receive this honor. The research team at Super Lawyers makes the selection for this list.

The Rising Stars lists are published nationwide in Super Lawyers magazines and in leading city and regional magazines across the country.

William G. Colvin, of counsel with Cavett & Abbott, has been named to the Mid South Super Lawyers list as one of the top attorneys in Tennessee for 2012. Colvin was recognized in Plaintiff Personal Injury work and Construction Litigation. No more than 5 percent of the lawyers in the state are selected by Super Lawyers.

Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters business, is a rating service of lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The annual selections are made using a multi-phased process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates, and peer reviews by practice area. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Selections are made on a state-by-state basis annually.

The first Super Lawyers list was published in 1991 and by 2009 the rating service had expanded nationwide. In February 2010, Thomson Reuters acquired Super Lawyers.
