Saturday, October 14

At Lovell Field, approx­imately 22 commercial flights and an estimated 100 private flights using the airport were grounded for the 12-hour period from Saturday noon until midnight during the nationwide “Shy Shield” air alert exercise.

Sunday, October 15

An industrial com­mit­tee made up of 100 members from the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce left for Chicago Sunday morning on a four-day industry hunt in the Chicago and Milwaukee area.

Tuesday, October 17

U.S. District Judge Les­lie R. Darr for the first time in his career as a federal judge recently began serving on the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati. He was designated by Chief Judge Shackleford Miller, Jr., to sit for Judge Thomas F. McAllister on trial panels in six cases this week.

Wednesday, October 18

The Chattanooga Sym­phony Orchestra, under the direction of Julius Hegyi, presented a brilliant program for the opening concert of the season Tuesday night in the Chattanooga High Auditorium.

Thursday, October 19

Federal Savings and Loan Association dedicated its new Brainerd Branch office at 5515 Brainerd Road Thursday at noon.
