Saturday, September 16

The electronic mach-ines the American Bank and Trust Company and the Hamilton National Bank will use in sorting checks and deposit slips will be demonstrated in the downtown banks. The devices, manufactured by IBM will sort 950 items in a minute and will be used by the banks beginning October 1.

Monday, September 18

The Chattanooga Hamil­ton County Interstate Fair opened Monday morning. With the weather outlook for the week good, the attendance is expected to exceed the 125,000 of last year.

Tuesday, September 19

Some 100 local real estate agents Tuesday afternoon were offered the opportunity to sell six parcels of newly developed Golden Gateway property on which the minimum total value of $2,524,300 has been set.

Wednesday, September 20

Another local Army Reserve unit, the 308th Quart-er Salvage Company, has been ordered to go on active duty October 15. The Chattanooga company was one of 249 Reserve and National Guard outfits across the nation included in the 73,000 called to active duty by the Defense Department.
