Sunday, November 20
An estimated 3,000 visitors attended the 17th annual open house Saturday at the Chattanooga Division of Combustion Engineering, Inc. A tour two-and-a-half miles in length was taken through the plant on the 110-acre site to view the equipment used to make some of the world’s largest steam generators and most advanced vessels for nuclear tractors used in commercial power stations, submarines, air craft carries and elsewhere.
Monday, November 21
The new $750,000 Jewish Community Center will be built in Brainerd early next year. Dr. Jack Tepper, new president of the center announced that construction of the new building is expected to start Feb. 1 on the 11-acre site between Spring Creek and McBrien Roads.

president and general coun-
sel of Provident Life and Accident Insurance Com-pany, has been named vice-president for Tennessee of the American Life Convention. A.L.C. president, Otto Haakenstad, announced the appointment.
Friday, November 25
Christmas lights on downtown streets were turned on Friday, ushering in the pre-holiday buying season.
