Saturday, August 6
County Judge Wilkes T. Thrasher, Jr., Friday representing David M. Eldridge, who is in Florida, issued the following statement. “After rechecking the election returns, I am on behalf of Mr. Eldridge conceding Mr. Chester Frost’s election to County Judge,” The final reruns were listed as Frost 24,693, Eldridge 24,603.
Sunday, August 7
Gordon L. Smith, Jr., secretary of the Wheland Company will serve as chairman of Group four of the United Fund-Red Cross campaign, W. Roy Meyers campaign chairman announced.
Monday, August 8
Thomas O. Trotter, Jr., young Chattanooga civic leader, has been named president of the Chattanooga Area Literacy Movement, Inc., by the board of directors of the newly formed organization which will carry on the work begun last year under the sponsorship of the Junior Chamber of Commerce.

John F. Crabtree was named Chattanooga’s Real-tor of the Year by unanimous vote at a Chattanooga Board of Realtors luncheon Wednesday at Hotel Patten
