The Chattanooga Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division’s recently elected Legal Aid of East Tennessee attorneys John Jolley and Mary Frances DeVoe to the positions of president and vice president, respectively.
Jolley has been with LAET since 2016. He represents victims of domestic violence in orders of protection, divorces, custody matters and other civil legal issues. Jolley graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2014. He’s also a graduate of Leadership Chattanooga Class of 2020 and serves as an on-site partner at the Chattanooga Family Justice Center.
DeVoe is the Pro Bono Project attorney for LAET’s southern program. She’s responsible for clinic and private attorney coordination, along with family and adoption cases.
DeVoe is a graduate of the Belmont College of Law in Nashville and is a member of the Justices Ray L. Brock, Jr., and Robert E. Cooper American Inns of Court and the Southeastern Tennessee Lawyer’s Association for Women. She’s been with LAET since 2021.
“Our firm has a long history of community involvement, and we’ve always endeavored to nurture and support young lawyers in their careers,” says LAET Executive Director Debra House. “I’m thrilled we have two of our attorneys in these important leadership roles.”
The CBA YLD exists to “promote a better understanding of the law and the legal profession to the general public, to sponsor community, educational and professional programs for the general public and the legal profession, and to encourage fellowship among the young lawyers of Hamilton County,” states the CBA website (ChattanoogaBar.org).
LAET provides civil legal representation free of charge across 26 counties.
