Dr. Benjamin E. Carmichael has been appointed superintendent of the city schools effective Sept. 1, the city school board announced Friday. Dr. Carmichael is coordinator of the Peabody Research Development Program and associate professor of education at George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville.
Monday, July 11
Raulston Schoolfield withdrew his name Mon-day from the county general election ballot as an independent candidate for county judge, saying he had nothing to do with the petition which qualified him.
Tuesday, July 12
Dr. Robert Spaulding, Boston psychiatrist, has accepted a position as staff psychiatrist at the Chattanooga Guidance Clinic, Dr. Robert Hagood, clinic director, announced Monday.
Friday, July 15
A total of 1,002 houses have been sold for a total of $11,848,603
since the Chattanooga Board of Realtors established the Multiple List-ing Service three and one-half years ago, A.P. Stewart, chairman of the MLS committee, reported to the board Thursday.
