HHM Certified Public Accountants has hired two directors, a senior accountant and five staff accountants to work in its Chattanooga office.
Scott Lowe returns to HHM as a director in the dealership group after working as the chief financial officer for an automotive group. He will focus on audits and assurance as well as consulting and tax planning.
Lowe has over 25 years of accounting experience specializing in automotive dealerships. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where he holds a bachelor’s and a master’s in accountancy.
Ken White rejoins the firm as a director. He has over 35 years of experience in public accounting and will focus on individual and corporate income tax preparation, estate planning, tax planning and retirement planning.
White is a graduate of Presbyterian College and the Army Signal Officer Basic Course at Fort Gordon, Georgia. He was formerly a commissioned officer in the Tennessee and South Carolina Army National Guard.
Rhys Lowe joins the firm as a senior accountant in the Accounting and Assurance Group. He will be involved in all stages of the audit process and will prepare financial statements for clients in varying industries. He is a graduate of Bob Jones University.
Joining the firm as staff accountants are Cole Guess, Jing Guo, Karsyn Guffy, Annie Osborne and Joshua Yebba.
Covenant College announces leadership change
Dr. Derek Halvorson will conclude his tenure as president of Covenant College June 30 to become the founding director July 1 of the college’s new Brock-Barnes Center for Leadership.
Covenant’s board of trustees approved a plan to appoint Halvorson as the first director of the leadership center Jan. 25, enabling the center to start raising funds now and launch this summer.
The board will soon launch a national search for the next president of Covenant in collaboration with students, faculty, staff and alumni.
Halvorson has served Covenant as president for 11 years, making him the third-longest serving president in the college’s 68-year history.
The goal of the leadership center is to equip Covenant students to “excel in Christ-like leadership exemplified by the remarkable men for whom the center is named,” the college says in a news release.
Frank Brock, Covenant’s fourth president, and Marion Barnes, the college’s second president, had important leadership roles in the church and Chattanooga community.
Parkridge names Courtney Dalton assistant CFO
Parkridge Health System has tapped Courtney Dalton to serve as its assistant chief financial officer.
Dalton joined Parkridge Health System as vice president of finance in March of 2020. Prior to that, she was a revenue manager for Quorum Health in Nashville.
Dalton holds a masters in accounting from Lipscomb University.
