Newsmakers: State safety office honors Collegedale officer




The Tennessee Highway Safety Office has named Collegedale Police Department officer Naaman Mowery the Cumberland Region’s DUI Officer of the Year. Mowery started with the Collegedale police in September 2021 and has made 22 DUI arrests.

“Hamilton County was in the top 10 for DUI arrests in Tennessee last year,” says Collegedale Police Chief Jack Sapp. “I’m proud of Officer Mowery and his commitment to keep intoxicated drivers off our roadways.”

Lakesite swears in two commissioners

Judge Arnold Stulce sworn in Lakesite commissioners Michelle Wilson and Wayne Behlau Nov. 29 during the city’s commission meeting.

Wilson was first elected to serve as a Lakesite commissioner in November 2018. She was reelected this year to her second four-year term on the board.

This is the first time for Behlau to serve as a commissioner. He is a degreed engineer with commercial construction, bid review and submission and land development experience.

Hudson named principal at East Brainard Elementary

Hannah Hudson is the new principal of East Brainerd Elementary School after serving as assistant principal at Hixson Elementary since 2021.

Before working for Hamilton County Schools, Hudson was an elementary school principal in Memphis, where she led her school in improving various programs and testing standards, developing leadership teams to provide feedback and fostering community partnerships.

Hudson has also acted as the dean of curriculum and instruction, coordinator of lower school planning and dean of student success for various school districts.

Habitat names Muller to director post

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga has named Hannah Muller director of community engagement and faith relations. Muller most recently served as volunteer engagement manager.

Muller’s new role will enable her to interact with community organizations as well as the faith-based community.

Muller is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and served in various positions in the hospitality industry before moving to the nonprofit world.
