Montgomery Ward & Company is establishing a distribution center in Chattanooga to supply its stores over the entire Southeast, Bruce E. McRoy, manager of the new facility, announced Friday.

Sunday, June 19
Jay L. Levine, son of attorney and Mrs. J.L. Levine, 121 South Crest Road, graduated Thursday from Harvard University with the degree of master in business administration. He is a graduate of McCallie and Yale. He has worked summers with Courts & Company, investment bankers, in Atlanta, and plans to return to the company next month.

Tuesday, June 21
One hundred fifteen children were carried out or led to safety as a three-alarm fire swept the main unit of the Vine Street Children’s Home at 315 Gillespie Road Monday night. Robert H. Weatherford, executive director and superintendent, and nine house mothers quickly met the emergency and gathered up sleepy infants in cribs, and herded the older children outside as smoke and flames threatened the building.
