Federal court plans public reading of U.S. Constitution

The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee will host a public reading of the U.S. Constitution Friday, Sept. 16.

The event will be held on the steps of the Joel W. Solomon Federal Building, located at 900 Georgia Ave., from 11:30 a.m. to about 1 p.m.

The court is dividing the Constitution into 110 segments that should take the average reader one minute or less to read.

Individuals can register at www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0C4EABAD2BA0FF2-public1 and check in at the bottom of the courthouse steps upon arrival.

Participants do not have to arrive at 11:30 a.m. to read; they may arrive at any time during the event.

The court will primarily assign readings on a first-come, first-filled basis.
