HHM Certified Public Accountants has hired a senior manager, a senior accountant, an analyst and a financial operations assistant to accommodate growth in its Chattanooga office.
Travis Flenniken rejoins the firm as senior manager within the management advisory services department. He has 20-plus years of experience in capacities that include business valuation, merger and acquisition advisory, investment management and business consulting.
Flenniken’s experience includes having personally acquired and operated an occupational health screening business.
Flenniken is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and has also earned an MBA at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a Certified Valuation Analyst.
Jennifer Wall joins the firm as a senior accountant. With over 25 years of combined tax and bookkeeping experience, Wall prepares income tax returns for clients with a variety of tax situations and across many industries.
Wall holds a degree in business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Connor Long joins the management advisory services group as an analyst. He provides general valuation services support as well as analyze properties, risks and costs.
Long holds an MBA from UTC and a is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
HHM has also expanded its administration with the addition of Lisa Washington, who is serving as a financial operations assistant.
She brings over 20 years of experience as an accounting support professional.
WWTA commissioners welcomes new members
The Hamilton County Water and Wastewater Treatment Authority recently appointed Loretta Hopper and Steve Leach to serve as representatives on its board of commissioners.
Hopper is a 20-year veteran with the Town of Signal Mountain. She has served as the director of Public Works for 16 of those years and has 30 years of experience as a civil engineer.
Hopper has worked for several private engineering firms in Arizona, Tennessee and Texas. She also worked in the engineering department of an Arizona town of about 30,000 people for eight years before moving to Chattanooga.
Hopper is a member of the Tennessee Chapter of the American Public Works Association and a past board member and an instructor for the Tennessee Public Works Institute.
As a board member, Hopper received the Charles Walter Nichols Award for Environmental Excellence for Outstanding and Meritorious Achievement in the Public Works Field in 2014.
Hopper is currently a board member for the Tennessee Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America and a certified Solid Waste Professional. She is also a member of the Tennessee Recycling Coalition.
“As the representative for Signal Mountain, I’m aware of the challenges of an aging and overburdened infrastructure,” Hopper says. “We’re a small community but we’re facing the same challenges and issues as the rest of the county. WWTA is committed to solving these issues.”
Hopper and her husband reside in Walden.
Leach served 31 years as a land planner for the Chattanooga Hamilton County Regional Planning Agency. He also led the Public Works Department for the City of Chattanooga for eight years. He is also a 28-year veteran of the U.S. Army in both active and reserve roles.
Leach holds a degree in economics and a master’s in planning. He also has a doctor of juris prudence degree. He and his wife reside in East Ridge.
Cheng joins Heart Institute
Board-certified imaging and general cardiologist Dr. Henry Cheng has joined The Chattanooga Heart Institute.
Cheng earned his medical degree from the University of California at Los Angeles. He completed an internal medicine residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and a cardiovascular medicine fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
In addition to general cardiology care, Cheng specializes in cardio-oncology, non-invasive echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.
Cheng joins 26 cardiologists, three vascular surgeons and three cardiovascular surgeons at The Chattanooga Heart Institute.
Girls Inc. welcomes Gentry as board chair
Girls Inc. of Chattanooga has appointed Tonya Gentry chair of its board of directors.
A long-time resident of the city, Gentry has spent the last 20 years in administration, marketing and business development in the STEM field. She is employed at Tinker Ma Architecture & Design and resides in North Chattanooga with her husband, Buck, and rescue dog, Charlie. Gentry has volunteered for a variety of area nonprofits and was drawn to Girls Inc. after being asked to speak to a Girls Inc. class.
