Ellen Hostetler is the new vice president for advancement at Southern Adventist University.
Hostetler has served as an adjunct instructor in the School of Business since 2017, teaching introduction to business and personal finance courses.
She brings more than six years of fundraising experience to her new role, having most recently served as director of development for It Is Written, a faith-based media ministry headquartered in Ooltewah.
Hostetler holds a master’s degree in entrepreneurship from the University of Florida.
Bridge Scholars hires Condra as director
Erica Condra is the new program director of Bridge Scholars of Chattanooga. Previously, Wonjen Bagley held the position of executive director and program director of the organization. Bagley will continue to be the organization’s executive director. Condra earned a master’s degree in secondary education at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Aspen Institute selects Ashford for fellowship
Rebecca Ashford, president at Chattanooga State Community College, will participate in the 2021-22 class of the Aspen New Presidents Fellowship. This program supports community college presidents in the early years of their tenure. The fellowship’s philanthropic partner is JPMorgan Chase.
The 25 Aspen Fellows, who lead colleges that collectively serve more than 280,000 students, were selected through a competitive process.
Starting later this year, the Fellows will engage over nine months in residential sessions and virtual learning to develop strategies to meet their data-based goals for student success and equity.
This new class of Aspen Presidential Fellows is 48% female and 64% are people of color. Located in 18 states, their institutions range from a tribal college with fewer than 500 students to an urban college that educates more than 35,000 each year.
JPMorgan Chase funds the Aspen Presidential Fellowship as part of New Skills at Work, a five-year, $350 million investment to meet the demand for skilled workers, including support for community colleges and other pathways to careers and economic mobility.
Family physician joins CHI Memorial
Dr. Derek Crouthers, family medicine physician, has joined CHI Memorial Internal Medicine Associates – Chattanooga, Hixson Pike.
Crouthers earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. He also completed an internship and family residency at the same location, where he served as chief resident.
Crouthers is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
