Foundation House Ministries is now offering its clients on-the-job training through its product development and in-store and online shopping platform.
Foundation House provides financial, emotional and physical support to pregnant women or women with newborns who struggle with addiction, homelessness and joblessness.
In addition to offering full-time residence and court advocacy, Foundation House trains the mothers to make all-natural candles, soaps and lotions in their facilities and then sell them in the nonprofit’s shop, Healing Springs Gifts, located at 258 Broad St. NW in Cleveland.
Foundation House also sells the products wholesale to local boutiques.
Foundation House Executive Director Suzanne Burns says job training and work experience are important to the women the nonprofit serves because it allows them to break the cycle of poverty.
“Poverty increases their likelihood of addiction, which can lead to dependence on abusive relationships, homelessness and even prostitution,” Burns says.
The store also offers a private-labeling option for businesses wanting to sell the products. Local boutique owner Jodi Walker sells a custom-made line in her store, Element, in Cleveland.
“They smell amazing and are all-natural,” Walker says.
Healing Springs Gifts is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. until Dec. 31. The women also sell these items at foundationhouseministries.org
