Big Brothers Big Sisters to host virtual fundraiser

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Chattanooga will host its first virtual fundraiser Thursday, Nov. 5, 7-8 p.m.

Dubbed “The BIG Happier Hour,” the event will include dinner from 1885 Grill – delivered to the homes of attendees – a performance by musical artist Swayyvo and a keynote address by Inky Johnson, a motivational speaker and former college football player.

Johnson’s football career ended in 2006 at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville with an injury that permanently paralyzed his right arm.

In addition, Chattanooga Whiskey will demonstrate how to make a cocktail.

“Here’s your chance to stay in, dress up and chow down as we celebrate the power of mentoring and raise needed support to serve more kids,” BBBS says in a news release.

Jed Mescon, community relations coordinator at Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union, will host.

The virtual Happier Hour will include silent auction packages and an awards program, during which BBBS will announce the recipient of its inaugural Defenders of Potential Award.

Proceeds will go toward creating and supporting one-to-one mentoring relationships.
