The winners of this year’s Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce awards include local companies that led in sustainability, creating healthy workplaces and supporting diversity, among other areas.
The Chattanooga Chamber announced its winners last week during a virtual event postponed since spring due to COVID-19.
The Chattanooga Area Manager of the Year is Michael Mathis, market president of Regions’ Bank since 2007. Before joining Regions, he held multiple positions at Pioneer Bank.
Mathis graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in accounting from Furman University and an MBA in finance from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
He has served as chairman of the board of directors for the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce and Chamber Foundation. He’s also served on many Chattanooga-area boards, including Siskin Hospital, Venture Forward, Brainerd Baptist School, UTC Chancellor’s Roundtable, UTC Finance Advisory Board and the McCallie School Alumni and Athletic Councils.
Most recently, Mathis was the 2018 United Way Campaign Chair.
Small Business Award recipients include Acumen Wealth (one to 20 employees), P&C Construction (21-50 employees), Chattanooga Lookouts (51-300 employees) and Siskin Children’s Institute (nonprofit).
