Greater Chattanooga Realtors presented the George Kangles Community Citizenship Award to Realtor Becky Cope English during its recent leadership installment and awards reception at the Edwin Hotel.

GCR established the award in 2011 to remember the late George Kangles and his dedication to serving the community and the association.

“George’s governmental and political affairs work on behalf of the association at the local, state and national level was unprecedented,” said Robert Tucker, a past recipient, as he announced the award. “His commitment should be an example to all of us.”

Since 2011, five Realtors have received GCR’s Community Citizenship Award, including Tucker (2017), Kathy Tucker (2015), Randy Durham (2013) and Lois Killebrew (2012). The award is presented when a Realtor’s positive impact on the governmental affairs activities of the association has affected the local community and the real estate industry at the state and local levels.

“Becky’s dedication to governmental and political advocacy is exemplary, and her impact on the association has been essential to the role Realtors play in the world of government and politics,” Tucker said.

“Whether attending Realtor Day on the Hill in Washington D.C., and Nashville, participating in local governmental and political functions, or inspiring fellow Realtors to act on important topics affecting the community, Becky is always willing to be of service to others,” said Josh Branum, communications director for GCR. “Her importance to the community is recognized by Realtors and political leaders alike and is easily surmised with this award.”
