Newsmakers: Behar promoted to director of finance at Maclellan Foundation




The Maclellan Foundation has promoted Lee Behar to director of finance. Behar joined Maclellan in 2006.

Throughout his tenure at the foundation, he has served in multiple leadership capacities, including overseeing grant-making in Europe and Eurasia, and providing senior operating and financial leadership to Generous Giving and Generosity Path.

In his new role, Behar will be responsible for managing and protecting the foundation’s financial assets.

Behar is a certified public accountant with more than 25 years of experience in finance, accounting, strategy development, and global outreach. Prior to joining Maclellan, Behar served in leadership roles at Generous Giving, Perimeter Church and Arthur Andersen.

Behar earned a degree in accounting from Texas Christian University and executive leadership certifications from The University of Chicago and Center for Creative Leadership. Behar and his family reside on Signal Mountain.

Counsel Creative expands team

Counsel Creative, a marketing collective based in the Chattanooga area, has expanded its team with the additions of Sebastian Arredondo as designer and Katie Haremski as creative coordinator.

As designer, Arredondo will support the agency’s creative initiatives by assisting in the production of print and digital assets for the development of client objectives.

A native of Atlanta, Arredondo joins Counsel Creative having most recently served as a graphic design intern at Nashville-based ST8MNT Brand Agency. He received his Bachelor of Science in graphic design from Southern Adventist University in December.

Haremski will support project management initiatives by serving as a direct resource for clients as well as working alongside them and the Counsel Creative team throughout the creative process.

A native of Knoxville, Haremski has a background in marketing, photography, and journalism, with past experiences as a marketing intern at DCM Communications, photo intern at Color Test Merch, and features editor for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s newspaper, The University Echo.

Haremski joined Counsel Creative in August of last year as an intern prior to receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in December.

Sandy Russell joins Pinnacle

Pinnacle Financial Partners has added Sandy Russell as a senior vice president and financial consultant with Pinnacle Asset Management. She is based at the firm’s Broad Street office.

Russell comes to Pinnacle from Raymond James & Associates in Chattanooga. She began her career in 1974 with Commerce Union Bank, where she served as a vice president for the bank’s international group, a branch manager, and a commercial lender. Russell was also instrumental in developing the company’s private banking division.

Russell also held roles with Citigroup Global Markets and Shearson Lehman Brothers, where she served as a first vice president.
