Chattanooga attorneys honored as Best Lawyers

Three of Chattanooga’s leading law firms – Leitner, Williams, Dooley & Napolitan, Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel and Pierce, Huisman & Heartfield – are celebrating after dozens of their attorneys were recognized in the 2026 edition of The Best Lawyers in America and Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch.

The annual guide, considered one of the most respected in the legal profession, honors lawyers based on peer review, professional expertise and standing within their respective practice areas. The Chattanooga attorneys recognized represent a diverse range of specialties – from business and corporate law to insurance, trusts and estates and litigation.

Leitner Williams had six Chattanooga attorneys named to the 2026 Best Lawyers list, including Douglas Dooley, Alan Easterly, Andrew Godbold, William Godbold III, Gary Napolitan and David Noblit.

Two Leitner attorneys received special recognition as 2026 Lawyers of the Year. Dooley was honored for his work in insurance law, while Easterly was recognized for litigation in insurance. Both attorneys, longtime equity members of the firm, have led significant cases involving complex liability disputes, workers’ compensation and mass tort litigation.

Chambliss Bahner celebrated 29 attorneys included in the 2026 Best Lawyers list. Among them, three attorneys earned the prestigious Lawyer of the Year designation in Chattanooga: Steve Barham for bankruptcy and creditor debtor rights, Jim Catanzaro for nonprofit and charities law and Mark Cunningham for mergers and acquisitions.

Four Chambliss attorneys were also recognized in the 2026 Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch for their early-career excellence: Courtney Keehan, Nicholas Nester, Kathleen Siciliano and Logan Threadgill.

Meanwhile, Pierce, Huisman & Heartfield announced that Martin Pierce and John Huisman were selected for inclusion in the 2026 Best Lawyers in America for their work in trusts and estates, elder law, business organizations, tax and family business law.

Pierce, a certified estate planning specialist and former president of both the Chattanooga Estate Planning Council and Chattanooga Tax Practitioners, is licensed in Tennessee and Georgia.

Huisman, also licensed in both states, has more than two decades of experience in probate, elder law, estate planning and business transactions.
