The Chattanooga Police Department welcomed 21 new officers with the graduation of CPD Academy Class 2026-2 following a 20-week police academy.
The graduating class represents a wide range of professional and life experiences, including four military veterans, a former professional football player, a former wildland firefighter, a personal trainer and a welder.
The class also includes a recruit from the Middle East and two graduates whose siblings already serve with CPD.
Police Chief John Chambers said the officers’ varied backgrounds and perspectives strengthen the department and its ability to serve Chattanooga’s diverse community.
The graduates will complete 16 weeks of field training alongside experienced CPD Field Training Officers before transitioning into patrol assignments.
The graduation ceremony was held Aug. 6 at Abba’s House in Hixson.
