Amazon plans to build a new delivery station in Chattanooga that is expected to create more than 300 jobs and expand the company’s logistics network across Southeast Tennessee.
The company announced plans to develop a 200,000-square-foot facility at 3400 Cummings Road. The delivery station is expected to begin operations in 2028 and will support local package processing and last-mile delivery services throughout the region.
The project marks Amazon’s first delivery station of its kind in Chattanooga and represents another major logistics investment in a city that has increasingly attracted distribution and transportation-related businesses.
Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp said the project further cements the county’s reputation as a logistics hub.
“Amazon’s decision to bring a new delivery station here is further evidence that Hamilton County is one of the country’s most important logistics hubs,” Wamp said. “This investment will create more than 300 jobs, strengthen our local economy and create new opportunities for working families.”
In addition to the jobs created directly at the facility, Amazon said the operation will support a network of independent delivery service partners serving customers throughout Southeast Tennessee.
Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly said the project will provide employment opportunities for residents while improving delivery service in the region.
“It’s always great news when you hear that a company like Amazon is continuing to invest in the Chattanooga region,” Kelly said. “In today’s economy, there are fewer and fewer jobs available for residents who lack certifications and degrees, and Amazon helps to fill this opportunity gap as they upgrade their delivery speed in the Chattanooga market.”
The company worked with the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, the city’s development services team and local officials during the planning and site-selection process.
The Chattanooga facility adds to Amazon’s growing presence in Tennessee, where the company says it employs more than 25,000 full- and part-time workers and supports more than 20,000 additional indirect jobs in industries such as construction, logistics and professional services.
Since 2010, Amazon has invested more than $30 billion in the state and contributed more than $35 billion to Tennessee’s gross domestic product, according to the company’s latest Tennessee investment report.
Amazon also reports that more than 3,600 Tennessee employees have participated in its education and skills training programs since 2019, while 11 educational institutions across the state participate in the company’s Career Choice tuition assistance program.
