Girls Inc. Sneaker Gala
Girls Inc.’s Sole Awards recognize individuals who have impacted advocacy, medicine, education and sports. This year’s recipients will be honored at the 2025 Sneaker Gala and Silent Auction at the Chattanooga Convention Center (1 Carter St.) at 6 p.m. The honorees are attorney Melody Shekari for advocacy, Dr. Yvette Stewart for education, Coach Venus Lacy for sports and Dr. Angela Smith Slack for medicine. Shekari is the executive director of The Women’s Fund of Greater Chattanooga. Stewart is the assistant professor and literacy director at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Lacy is an Olympic gold medalist and the head coach of the Brainerd High School girls’ basketball team. Slack is board-certified and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics at Children’s Diagnostic Center. Sponsorship information

Community Carnival
Montessori Elementary at Highland Park (1805 Anderson Ave.) will host games, food and live entertainment for all ages from noon-3 p.m. Guests will purchase tickets for attractions and food for 25 cents each. MEHP leadership intends this debut carnival to celebrate the school’s expanding presence in Highland Park. The school grew from 300 students at the end of the 2023-2024 school year to 350 in during the 2024-2025 school year and will soon accommodate over 400 students.

Accessibility Resource Fair
In celebration of Global Accessibility Awareness Day, Signal Centers (5751 Uptain Road) invites the community to its free resource fair 9 a.m.-noon. Guests will enjoy a light breakfast while connecting with local disability service providers, learning about inclusive technologies, and hearing from internationally recognized blind architect Chris Downey. The event will also include a panel discussion with Chattanooga thought leaders on accessibility and inclusion, including representatives from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Orange Grove Center, Tennessee Vocational Rehabilitation and Signal Centers. The fair will be free and open to the public.

Scenic City Chorale concert
The Scenic City Chorale will celebrate its 60th year with a spring concert at 3 p.m. at Brainerd United Methodist Church (4315 Brainerd Road). The program will feature music the chorus has sung throughout its history. SSC began as a small group of volunteer choristers at the downtown Senior Neighbors of Chattanooga. Since that time, it has grown into an ensemble of more than 50 men and women from diverse geographic, economic and social backgrounds.

Chattanooga Beer Fest
This celebration of craft beer will run from noon-3 p.m. at First Horizon Pavilion (1826 Reggie White Blvd.) and offer attendees unlimited samples from more than two dozen local and regional breweries. The lineup will include Bell’s, 3 Floyds, Lagunitas, Founders and local favorites such as Oddstory, Naked River and Hutton & Smith. Festivalgoers will receive a commemorative tasting glass and have the chance to chat with the brewers about their creations. Beyond the beer, the event will feature food from El Mason and JT’s Burger Box, artisan shopping from the Chattanooga Market, and a live reggae performance by Milele Roots.
