A native of the Chattanooga area, Hargraves spent his childhood on his family’s farm in Harrison. Hargraves continues to farm the land with his brother and other family members.

As a home-school student, Hargraves first aspired to become a trial lawyer in high school when he took part in Chattanooga’s mock trial competitions. In addition, Hargraves participated in theatre, ballroom dancing and martial arts.

While in law school, Hargraves served as editor-in-chief of the Liberty University Law Review. His essay on how the U.S. Supreme Court should rule in a certain case won an award delivered at a reception at the courthouse. Hargraves also earned awards for Outstanding Achievement in Trial Advocacy, Excellence in Lawyering Skills and Distinguished Service as the editor-in-chief of the Law Review.

Hargraves enjoys spending time with his family, ballroom dancing, singing, gardening, fishing, refinishing furniture, listening to classic music on vinyl and teaching himself to play the banjo.
