The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard last week participated in the National Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony in Washington, D.C. This marked the fifth straight year the HCSO Honor Guard has been asked to participate.

Each year, the National Law Enforcement Memorial Service honors the sacrifice and loss of all fallen law enforcement personnel nationwide. Last week’s candlelight vigil included numerous additions to the wall from across the country – including Hamilton County Park Ranger James Wallen. This year’s ceremony also honored the law enforcement personnel who responded to the July 16 terrorist attacks in Chattanooga.

“It is a privilege to be asked to participate in this national event, as only a select group of honor guards receive the opportunity to represent law enforcement at the ceremony,” said Hammond.

HCSO Honor Guard members dedicate substantial time annually to train and condition their uniforms and equipment in order to represent the HCSO at parades, funerals, and other significant events.
