Section of Ashland Terrace to close

Recent infrastructure reviews revealed a culvert on Ashland Terrace would require attention.

Red Bank’s engineering firm reported that while the structure connecting Ashland Terrace to Dayton Boulevard was operational, the city was advised to repair or replace the culvert. City officials made the decision to remove the existing culvert and replace it with a reinforced concrete structural box culvert.

Work on the structure is expected to begin Wednesday, Oct. 24, with an anticipated completion date of Dec. 6, weather permitting. During the duration of the construction, Ashland Terrace will be closed to all traffic from Dayton Boulevard to Tacoma Avenue.

“The city asks for your patience during construction, as detouring traffic around the intersection of Ashland Terrace at Dayton Boulevard will be challenging,” says   Tim Thornbury, interim city manager. “The difficulties the closure creates, however, far outweigh the potential consequences of an unanticipated structural failure.”

The improvement to the road will impact traffic and potentially create long delays along Dayton Boulevard.
