Mock trial competition helps build skills

The Chattanooga Bar Association continues to work with the Department of Education in general and with Brainerd, Howard, and Tyner in particular to help develop the skills and knowledge and relationships for students to know that the practice of law is available to them.

Involvement in the mock trial competition is one step toward that goal. And we are working to grow involvement in that competition.

The Tennessee Supreme Court will bring its SCALES program to Chattanooga State on Sept. 19 to educate high school students about the judicial branch of government. 650 students will be invited to participate in the SCALES program.

Presiding Judge J.B. Bennett will give opening remarks.

The Benefits

The CBA affords its members an incredible array of benefits such as lawyer referral, CLE, responses to rule proposals, fee dispute resolution, remembering and honoring legal community members, serving the community, providing leadership opportunities, discounts at numerous businesses for a wide variety of services and products.

Look for an announcement about a free health care screening for CBA members before the end of this year – a benefit that by itself makes CBA membership worthwhile.

Please always remember to go to the CBA website and see weekly emails concerning the incredibly affordable CLE opportunities that we make available to our legal community.

The Chattanooga Bar Association has a website tool to assist attorneys who are in the Lawyer Referral Service. The service assists clients in finding an attorney.

If you are interested in being in the Lawyer Referral Service, please contact the Chattanooga Bar Association at 602-9430.

If you’re an attorney struggling with alcohol or drug addiction, the CBA is here to help.

We thank Art Grisham for the confidential and supportive counseling and guidance he’s given to our members who are working to overcome this issue.

He will continue to chair our Lawyers Helping Lawyers committee of the CBA.
