Events: School Board debate




The final debate between Hamilton County Board of Education candidates will feature Karitsa Mosley and Ann Pierrewill from District 5 on Thursday, May 29, 6-8 p.m. at Dalewood Middle School. Information

Foster care information night

Chambliss Center for Children, 315 Gillespie Road, will host a foster care information night on Tuesday, June 5 from 6-7:30 p.m. Free onsite parking and child care will be available. RSVP to 423 693-2580 by Friday, June 1.

There are more than 1,000 children in state custody in Hamilton and the surrounding counties. These children have been removed from their homes primarily because of abuse, abandonment, or neglect. Chambliss Center for Children contracts with the state to find stable foster homes for these youth.

Atlanta Braves road trip

The Atlanta Braves will visit Chattanooga in June as part of their new Braves Country Road Trip. The stopover will feature a youth clinic with Braves alumni on Friday, June 8 followed by a free public event at Coolidge Park on Saturday, June 9, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

The public event will feature games, a virtual reality tour of SunTrust Park, photo opportunities, game ticket giveaways and free food. Meet and greets with Braves alumni will round out the weekend. Additional details will be released in the coming weeks. Information

Jan Croon book signing

Editor Jan Croon is touring Georgia to discuss and sign copies of “The War Outside My Window: The Civil War Diary of LeRoy Wiley Gresham – 1860-1865.” The Fort Oglethorpe event is from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, June 16 at Chickamauga Chattanooga National Military Park. Information

Bestselling author Karen White to speak

New York Times bestselling author Karen White will speak at the FocusLit fundraiser on Thursday, June 24 at 5:30 p.m. The event will take place at the Peyton venue on Broad St. White will also read from her new novel, “Dreams of Falling,” to be released June 5. Tickets for the event are $60 per person. VIP tickets are $125 and include dinner with White after the main event.

Diversify Marketplace

The Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Diversify Marketplace on Friday, June 29. Held at the First Tennessee Pavilion across from Finley Stadium from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Diversify Marketplace will feature an array of businesses and nonprofits, including woman-owned, minority-owned, veteran-owned and more. Free admission.
