Massey & Associates welcomes attorney Ethan Hargraves




Hargraves

Attorney Ethan Hargraves has joined the law firm of Massey & Associates. A lawyer since 2014, he comes to the firm after serving clerkships at the Tennessee Supreme Court and Alabama Supreme Court.

A native of the Chattanooga area, Hargraves spent his childhood on his family’s farm in Harrison. Hargraves continues to farm the land with his brother and other family members.

As a home-school student, Hargraves first aspired to become a trial lawyer in high school when he took part in Chattanooga’s mock trial competitions. In addition, Hargraves participated in theatre, ballroom dancing and martial arts.

Hargraves attended Bryan College in Dayton on a theatre scholarship and earned a bachelor’s degree in English. At the same time, he sang first tenor in the Bryan College Chorale and was selected as a soloist for tours in the U.S. and Europe.

Hargraves earned his law degree, magna cum laude, from Liberty University School of Law in Lynchburg, Virginia. His trial team won first place at the ABA’s 2013 National Arbitration Competition and first place at the Charlotte School of Law’s 2013 Carolinas Invitational Mock Trial Tournament.

While in law school, Hargraves served as editor-in-chief of the Liberty University Law Review. His essay on how the U.S. Supreme Court should rule in a certain case won an award delivered at a reception at the courthouse. Hargraves also earned awards for Outstanding Achievement in Trial Advocacy, Excellence in Lawyering Skills and Distinguished Service as the editor-in-chief of the Law Review.

Hargraves enjoys spending time with his family, ballroom dancing, singing, gardening, fishing, refinishing furniture, listening to classic music on vinyl and teaching himself to play the banjo.

He and wife Alanna have two children – William Eugene, 3, and Minnie Pearl, 15 months – and another on the way.
