Events: East Chatt Highlight Festival




Presented by Glass House Collective and green|spaces, the festival will focus on The Pool, an interactive art exhibit made of glowing panels of light. The event will also feature live DJs, a hip hop and spoken word showcase, a family fun picnic and more. Friday, April 21-Sunday, April 23, 1901 Roanoke Ave. Free event.

Bonhoeffer movie screening

“Come Before Winter,” a new docudrama about theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer and the ethical challenges of political resistance in Nazi Germany, was made with contributions from several Southern Adventist University film program alumni. Director Kevin Ekvall will visit Southern’s campus in Collegedale on Saturday, April 22 for a 7 p.m. free screening in Lynn Wood Hall Chapel. The event is free and open to the public. Night Run Chattanooga 2017

A 5K night run/one-mile walk on the Riverwalk will take place Saturday, April 22 at 9:15 p.m. The event will start at Shelter 4 in Riverpark next to the Hubert Fry Center, 4501 Amnicola Highway. Glow-in-the-dark items and T-shirts will be available to participants as part of their registration fee. Warm-up activities and free concessions will be available. Awards will be given to the runners with the best times. All ages are welcome.

Proceeds from the event will bring Christian, Jewish and Muslim children together through recreational programs.

Chattanooga Earth Day Rally

Chattanooga’s Earth Day celebration will take place Saturday, April 22, 3-10 p.m., at Ross’s Landing City Park. The event will feature guest speakers, live music, vendors, food and more. The speakers will focus on the science that helps us protect and understand our planet. Free event.

Hike, Bike and Brew

Lula Lake Land Trust will celebrate Earth Day and their mission to protect and preserve the Rock Creek watershed by hosting Hike, Bike and Brew. This unique festival will feature local brewers and brews at seven beer stations along the Lula Lake trails. The event will take place Saturday, April 22 from 3-7 p.m., 5000 Lula Lake Road. Earth Day at the zoo

This education-focused event will allow zoo guests to get hands-on experience with conservation. Sponsored by the Hamilton County Master Gardeners, the event will feature education carts, crafts and planting stations. Earth Day at the Chattanooga Zoo will take place Saturday, April 22, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Zoo admission required.

Walk MS

Walk MS, a charity walk that raises money to drive research and provide services for people with muscular dystrophy, will take place Saturday, April 22 at College Park, 150 River St. The site opens at 9 a.m.; walk begins at 10 a.m. To participate or volunteer: walkMS.org, fundraisingsupport@nmss.org or (855) 372-1331.

Vida Flo grand opening

The facility’s grand opening is Thursday, April 27. Located at 518 Georgia Ave., Vida Flo will be offering free B12 boosters and 93 percent pure oxygen as well as half off its tier two and three vitamins and antioxidant add-ons.

Bartender Brawl

Chattanooga Friends will present its annual Bartender Brawl on Thursday, April 27 from 6-9 p.m. in Miller Plaza. Bartenders from up to 12 area restaurants and bars will present two tasting-sized cocktails each, while 1885 Grill will provide appetizers for the event.

Confirmed competitors include: The Fix Lounge; St. John’s Restaurant; Matilda Midnight; FIVE Chattanooga; Big River Grille Downtown; Beast + Barrel; Hair of the Dog Pub; Mellow Mushroom; and Alleia Restaurant. Guests may try as many samples as they like, then vote for their favorite.

Raise the Roof

Tickets are on sale for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area’s annual gala, Raise the Roof. The benefit will be held Friday, April 28, at the Chattanooga Convention and Trade Center. Outrun Abuse

As part of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Children’s Advocacy Center of Hamilton County will host its annual Out Run Abuse 5K on Saturday, April 29 at Greenway Farms. Information: www.cachc.org.

Health rally

Clean and Green

Downtown Chattanooga’s annual cleanup and beautification event will take place Saturday, April 29, 8 a.m.-noon. This volunteer program focuses on litter removal and beautification throughout Downtown Chattanooga and the surrounding neighborhoods.
