Realtors head to Washington to advance real estate politics

Realtors will be in Washington, D.C., May 11 through 16 to attend the Realtor Legislative Meetings & Trade Expo, where they will advocate for policies that protect commercial and residential property ownership and investment and advance the real estate industry. Realtors will also be meeting with Obama administration officials and senior leadership at the Federal Housing Finance Agency, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Department of Agriculture’s Rural Housing Service.

Speakers and guest panelists throughout the week include: Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Richard Cordray; former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee; Move, Inc. (operator of realtor.com) CEO Ryan O’Hara, and senior staff from the Federal Aviation Administration’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems Integration Office to discuss drone regulations.

At the meetings, NAR’s Chief Economist Lawrence Yun will share the latest outlooks for residential and commercial real estate markets during the “Residential Economic Issues & Trends Forum” on Thursday, May 14 from 8 to 10 a.m. and at the “Commercial Economic Issues & Trends Forum” later that same day from 1 to 3 p.m.

The Trade Expo will be open Wednesday, May 13 and Thursday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. More than 100 companies will be on hand to demonstrate the latest real estate products and services.
