at Miller Plaza
Jazzanooga will host the Brown Bag Music Series on Fridays in April. The concerts will take place at the Waterhouse Pavilion from 11:30 to 1 p.m. Scheduled to perform this month are: Dana Rogers, Nikki Ellis, and Shane Morrow. The event is part of Jazzanooga’s Big Nine Jazz Series, events held to animate MLK Boulevard.
Crabtree Farms Plant Sale
The 15th Annual Spring Plant Sale and Festival at Crabtree Farms will be held Friday and Saturday, April 10 and 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Sunday, April 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The sale will offer gardeners fruit, vegetable, and herb plant starts for their spring and summer gardens. Activities will include free gardening workshops, live music, food, activities for kids, and handcrafted items from local artisans. Over 100 varieties of plants will be available.
4 Bridges Arts Festival
The 4 Bridges Arts Festival will return to the First Tennessee Pavilion April 10 through 12. The event will feature a variety of arts and crafts, including painting, glasswork, jewelry, textiles, photography, sculpture and more, as well as local food, children’s art activities, and entertainment. This year’s jurors are Katie Delmez, curator at the Frist Center for Visual Arts; Bill May, executive director at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts; and Peggy Wood Townsend, director of Public Art Chattanooga. The festival will begin with a preview party Friday evening. Festival and preview party tickets may be purchased at www.4bridgesartsfestival.org or at the door. Jazz on the Bluff
Jazz on the Bluff will kick off Sunday at 11 a.m. on the patio of Rembrandt’s Coffee House. The fun will continue from noon to 4 p.m. at the Hunter Museum of American Art. Scheduled to perform: Tim Hughes Quartet, The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Jazz Ensemble, Undoctored Originals, Jazzanooga Youth Music Academy All Stars, and Sweet Georgia Sound. It’s also Free Admission Sunday at the Hunter Museum.
I Cantori Performance
Southern Adventist University’s I Cantori chamber choir will perform Sunday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Ackerman Auditorium. The concert, conducted by Gennevieve Brown-Kibble, is free and open to the public. There will be a diversity of styles including folk songs, barbershop, and musical theatre, as well as a special tribute to “The Sound of Music.”
Tennessee Smart Yards
UT Extension will offer a landscaping class called Tennessee Smart Yards from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14 and Tuesday, April 21 at the UT Agricultural Center on Bonny Oaks Drive. Topics will include landscape design for a healthy yard, water management to avoid problems; rain garden design, soil care, and nine steps for a better yard. Muse of Fire Project
The Muse of Fire Project will present its Spring Series of original short plays written by kids and performed by grown-ups at the Chattanooga Public Library Theater on Friday, April 17 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, April 18 at 3 and 7 p.m. The Muse of Fire Project is an after-school program that provides children from Chattanooga the opportunity to write their own plays and work with professional actors and musicians to create live theater productions. The theater is located on the first floor of the library at 1001 Broad Street downtown. Tickets are free, with a suggested donation of $10 per person. Bug-A-Palüza
Scenic City Volks Folks will host its 17th annual Bug-A-Palüza Volkswagen car show at Camp Jordan April 18 and 19. All gate proceeds will go to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga. Concessions proceeds will go to supporting families with sick or injured children staying at a nearby hospital. Bug-A-Palüza features VW classics and new models, food, children’s activities, and music. The event will host hundreds of show cars and over 100 vendors. Camping is available on-site for both small tents and large RVs with water and electricity. Pets are welcome on the campgrounds. The gates will open each day at 8 a.m.
Mid-South Symphonic Band spring concert
The Mid-South Symphonic Band will host its spring concert on Sunday, April 19 at 2:30 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, located at 8645 East Brainerd Road. The concert is free to the public. The program will include inspirational and patriotic favorites past and present. Founded in 1990, the Mid-South Symphonic Band is comprised of 75 musicians from the greater Chattanooga area who perform under the direction of Jim Souders. Annual Palate 2 Palette
The Craniofacial Foundation of America (CFA) will host its 8th Annual Palate 2 Palette event on Saturday, April 25. The event will begin at 5 p.m. with the Gallery Stroll. Following the stroll, guests can go to the Bubbles and Sweets after party at Track 29 from 8 to 10 p.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit the CFA, a non-profit organization that supports the work of the Tennessee Craniofacial Center (TCC) at Children’s Hospital at Erlanger and Erlanger Health System.
